City of La Canada Flintridge

The City of La Cañada Flintridge invites interested persons who are residents of the City to submit applications to serve on the Planning Commission. Effective June 1, 2010 the following vacancies will occur:

Planning Commission: 3 vacancies. This Commission reviews proposed residential and commercial development projects, subdivisions, and uses of land to determine their compliance with applicable City zoning and building laws.

All appointments will be for four years expiring May 31, 2014. Members may serve no more than two consecutive four-year terms.

All applicants must be residents of the City of La Cañada Flintridge except for one member of the Design Commission who is an owner or manager of a business within the city.

Applications are available at City Hall or may be downloaded. To be considered, applications must be received by the City Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on March 19, 2010. The City Council will conduct interviews in April and May. Appointments will be made at the May 17, 2010 meeting and terms begin June 1, 2010. The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing proposed residential and commercial development projects, subdivisions, and land use requests on private property, to determine their compliance with applicable City regulations. The Planning Commission has authority to approve various development projects that comply with City requirements.

In addition, the Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council with respect to the City's General Plan, Zoning Code, Specific Plans and other matters related to development within the City.

The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the La Cañada Flintridge City Hall. (Meeting Procedures)
