City of La Canada Flintridge

The City schedules athletic field use during non-school hours at several local schools through the joint use agreement with the La Cañada Unified School District. The City also schedules and maintains the field at 1830 Foothill Boulevard through an agreement with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The agreements specify which fields, the times they are available, and the method of scheduling.

The field scheduling process begins in November in order that a master field use schedule for the new calendar year can be adopted in January. The city allocates permits for most of the available field time during the annual field scheduling process. During non-permitted times, the fields are available to the public for use during non-school hours on a first come, first serve basis.

There are eight courts available to the public during non-school hours at Foothill Intermediate School (4490 Cornishon Avenue) (map). They are operated under a joint-use agreement with the La Cañada Unified School District. Hours typically are from 3:00 p.m. until dark on week-days and from 7:00 a.m. to dark on week-ends.

There is one municipal court at Glenhaven Park (map), on Glenhaven Drive at La Granada Way. It is open during daylight hours.

All courts are available generally on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be made in advance (31 days for residents and 60 days for non-residents). To make a reservation, complete the application form, provide liability insurance naming the City as additional insured, and pay $10 per hour per court. Fee waivers may be granted by the Parks & Recreation Commission.

The four outdoor basketball courts at La Cañada High School are open to the public on weekdays after 5 p.m. during the school year; however they are sometimes reserved after 5 p.m. for high school basketball-related programs. Week-ends, holidays, and during summer non-school days, they are available to the public from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., unless reserved.
